A “set” of DEVIL STICKS is three pieces — the baton and two control sticks. But it is often called a pair of sticks. They have nothing to do with the devil! Some say it comes from a Greek term that means to “throw across”, others say they are called that because they looked “possessed”!
Some call it devil-sticking, or twirling, sticking, and stick juggling. Devil Sticks are also called: flower sticks, DEVILSTICKS, devil-sticks, rhythm sticks, or JUGGLING STICKS. It is a form of gyroscopic juggling and is generally considered to be a circus act.
There are two types of sticks: with tassels (dusters) usually called Flower Sticks, and ones without tassels which are your regular Devil Sticks. Flower Stick type devil sticks have more drag and therefore move or spin slower. You see these alot at renaiasance fairs and such.
Traditional sticks are used for fast pace stage routines. Check out some of the videos on our site!
Basic Style
You can twirl ‘em, spin ‘em, or flip ‘em ! Good basic balanced devil sticks are made of solid wood dowel rods covered with tacky, rubber tape for a good grip. Most sets include 1 master stick and 2 control sticks. Basic instructions are usually included.
